Cornelis P. Hollenberg is former Head of the Institute of Microbiology, Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf and founder of undefinedRhein Biotech GmbH. Prof. Hollenberg has an international reputation in the field of molecular genetics of yeast, in particular gene expression and protein secretion. He is scientific advisor for a number of biotechnology companies and board member of undefinedArtes Biotechnology GmbH. He has implemented Hansenula as a production system for recombinant proteins.

Along with his longtime collaborator Dr. Janowicz, Professor Hollenberg has received the undefinedEuropean Inventor of the Year Award in 2006.
